A day after immigrant rights advocates visited Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen's office to thank her for supporting HR 15, a group of women's rights advocates will pay a visit to Congressman Mario Diaz Balart and ask him to follow in Congresswoman Ros-Lehtinen's footsteps in supporting HR 15.  They will also encourage him to support immigrant reform that improves women's access to health care and reproductive health services and protects victims of trafficking and domestic violence.

The rally will involve storytelling from impacted women, a balloon banner lift, and the delivery to Pittenger of a large heart collage called “Women and Children are the Heart of Immigration Reform” which opens up to pictures of women and their families from his district.

40 hours of vigil outside of Rep. Paul Ryan’s offices have already begun and will escalate to a rally and direct action on Friday.

The rally will feature speeches and a balloon banner unfurling by two DREAMers, as well as testimony from 3 generations of one family – Cecilia, Sofia and Luz Maria, a US citizen daughter, a naturalized citizen mother, and an LPR status grandmother who can all speak to the importance of a fair pathway to citizenship that takes into account the needs of women and families.

The rally will close with a delivery to Ryan's office by Valeria Ruiz a DREAMer from his district who has met with him personally and also spoken to him at a town hall, several press conferences as well. Their message will be: It has come to this. I personally know how much we have worked to get you to work towards a path to citizenship.
